Help is still needed at ‘Picnic in the Park’ on Saturday 31st August, 11am-4pm.
This is a great opportunity for the church to engage with the community.
Please email me if you can spare some time to set up, to chat, to be on the prayer activity, to play some of the big games or to welcome people in church. Thanks.
After a very long rest, OASIS Quiet Days will be coming back very soon.
We are planning our return on: Thursday 9th May.
For those who are unfamiliar with OASIS Days, they are held at St James’ Meltham Mills.
We begin in the Hall with coffee and biscuits served from 9.45 – 10.15am.
The Quiet Day then begins in the church promptly at 10.30am. There is a theme for the day to guide our thoughts. The theme will be ‘Times of Transition’ and it begins with a short Act of Worship using carefully selected music, readings and prayers. After that, some people may choose to read, write, go for walk. Everyone is free to stay for as long as they wish. We know how busy life can be!
We bring packed lunches and enjoy a time of fellowship from 12.00 – 1.00pm. After lunch we return to the church for a time of prayer followed by a simple service of Holy Communion in the Celtic tradition. We are always finished before 3.00pm
This is just a brief outline- basically OASIS Days are a gift for everyone to press their ‘pause’ button and share in a time of rest and refreshment, a time of reflection, a time to be with God.

If you have time to make a tray bake or similar to go with the drinks in St. James’ church at the end of the Easter trail, that would be lovely. There will be someone in St. James’ from 8.30am on Saturday 30th or you could leave it at 15, Cardinal Close on Friday 29th.
