UKRAINE APPEAL: Meltham Shoebox Team – Day 4 – update….

UKRAINE APPEAL: Meltham Shoebox Team / T4U – Day 4

Early this morning, the van containing the donated supplies left Meltham and travelled to the T4U Head Office Distribution Centre in Wrexham.

Our donations will then be loaded on to a large articulated lorry, along with similar donations from other parts of Northern England and North Wales, and leave for Romania which borders Ukraine.

We received yet more donations, today, and we will be open tomorrow (Sat 12th March) and Monday 14th March at St James Church, Meltham Mills from 2.00pm to 4.00pm. Donations can also be left at our Drop-Off Points in Meltham ie Morrisons, Co-op & the Crossroads Shop over the weekend.

The collection points in Morrisons and the Co-op will then be removed on Monday.
A van will take all the remaining donations to Wrexham later this next week.

We want to say a huge “THANK YOU” to all those individuals, businesses and schools which together has resulted in such a brilliant amount of much-needed supplies going from Meltham and surrounding area to the displaced refugees from Ukraine.

So much has been achieved in just 4 days and it’s all thanks to you for responding so generously.
THANK YOU.

Chris Dronsfield
Communications Officer
Meltham Shoebox Team & T4U.

UKRAINE APPEAL: Meltham Shoebox Team – Day 3 – update….

UKRAINE APPEAL: Meltham Shoebox Team / T4U – Day 3

What a day this has been. Donations have continued to flood in and we never cease to be amazed, and so grateful, for the support that we have received. Jason McCartney, our MP, called in to see us and his support was also really appreciated.

This afternoon a large van, kindly provided by @TayTrans, left St James Church, Meltham Mills, fully loaded with supplies. It will take them to the T4U Charity Distribution Centre in Wrexham, tomorrow where they will then be loaded onto large articulated lorries and taken by road and sea to Romania and Moldova where thousands of Ukranian refugees are fleeing to.

So, it’s been a brilliantly busy day but our work is not over because we will be back at St James tomorrow to process the donated items that are continuing to flood in. We will be hiring at least one van, next week, to take further supplies to Wrexham.

Thank you to all those who have supported us this week.

Chris Dronsfield
Communications Officer
Meltham Shoebox Team

UKRAINE APPEAL: Meltham Shoebox Team – Day 2 – update….

UKRAINE APPEAL: Meltham Shoebox Team – Day 2 has been absolutely amazing as we have received a huge amount of donated supplies from the people in Meltham and surrounding villages. The large van that will be taking them to the T4U warehouse/distribution point in Wrexham is going to be filled to the brim! In fact, because of the generosity of folks, we now anticipate that at least one further van trip to Wrexham will be required next week.

We are extremely short of male underwear and socks (all ages and new). As you read this post, if you are able to help us with this, then it would be wonderful.

Day 2 has certainly be a memorable day, we are really pleased with the response and are excited about what Day 3 will bring. We’ll be ready to face it after a good night’s sleep. 💤

UKRAINE APPEAL: Meltham Shoebox Team – Day 1 – progress so far….

UKRAINE APPEAL: Meltham Shoebox Team – Day 1:
We have had a wonderful start to our appeal and amazed at just how much has been donated already. We couldn’t fill the cartons without the great support that we receive from the people of Meltham and surrounding areas.

Thank you to Morrisons, the Co-op and the Crossroads Centre for acting as Drop-Off points in Meltham and to W.H Brown in Holmfirth.

Thank you to all those who have donated items which has made Day 1 such a brilliant start to the week. We are looking forward to Day 2 and all the donations that we anticipate will be brought to our Drop-Off Points.
