Let us remember that it is not just at the point of salvation that we are to deny ourselves and take up our cross(v34), but daily. Being a disciple means we must access ourselves regularly and continue to align our hearts with His.

“Oasis” Quiet Day

OASIS – A Quiet Day
Wednesday 19th September at St James’s Church Meltham Mills.
Coffee from 10.00am.
The Quiet Day begins at 10.30 and ends by 3.00pm.
Lunch and Fellowship from 12.00 – 1.00pm (Please bring a packed lunch.)
The Day provides an opportunity to be away from the stresses of everyday life.
There will be some inspiring music; images and words but most of all there will be
Quiet; Peace and Time to rest.
Nothing will be asked of you – no singing; no questions; no interactive activities.
Come and go as you wish – there is no pressure to stay all day.
The Day is yours – a Day to read; write; pray; think; be at Peace.

PLEASE PRAY for the children as they have returned to school this week. Pray for their year ahead, for protection, for success, for better understanding and growth, but also for them to have fun and to have the right balance of rest and motivation.

Let us trust that Jesus will continue to heal today, as He did so in this passage. Let us pray for those with cancer, physical ailments and other illnesses,
having faith that Jesus can, and will, heal through His Mighty Name.

Civic Service at St Bartholomew’s – Sun 9th September – 10:45am

@AroundMeltham – The Civic Service will take place at St Bartholomew’s tomorrow @ 10:45am (Sun 9 Sep) when we shall be joined by Meltham Town Council and the new Mayor of Meltham, Cllr David Haigh. We’ll also be joined by other community groups – please join us – ALL WELCOME.  The Parade with @MelthamBand will leave Carlile St at 10:30am.

We’ll also be welcoming the new Vicar of Meltham – Rev’d John Dracup who will be joining us for his first service following his licensing earlier in the week.

There will be no other morning services in the Parish except for Holy Communion at St Bart’s at 9am and 5-Alive at St James’ – Meltham Mills at 5pm.

PLEASE PRAY for Rev John Dracup. Pray that as he prepares to take on his new role as Vicar of #Meltham that he would be filled with God’s strength, wisdom and His Holy Spirit. Pray for his ministry and for his family, as they all settle into their new parish and home.

Let us pray that people would not just know of God, but know God in their hearts. Feeling and trusting Him. Pray that people would not lose sight when worshipping Him, like the Pharisees, but exalt Him above all with a sincere heart.

PLEASE PRAY for those affected by the Genoa bridge tragedy. For those who have lost family and friends. For those who have had to evacuate homes and had their lives disrupted. Pray for the emergency services and the professionals who are working on the site and as they, and the people, prepare to rebuild, not just the structure, but their lives as well.
