Due to the concerns for her health, St Bartholomew’s Church in #Meltham will be open between 6:00 and 7:00pm this evening (Thurs 8th September) for those who may wish to offer prayers for Her Majesty the Queen.
The Archbishop of Cantebury Justin Welby said earlier today ”My prayers, and the prayers of people across the Church of England, and the nation, are with Her Majesty The Queen today. May God’s presence strengthen and comfort Her Majesty, her family, and those who are caring for her at Balmoral.”
In the coming days we will offer additional opportunities to pray depending upon further announcements from the palace.
OASIS-a quiet space for reflection and refreshment.
The Oasis team are pleased to announce that our Quiet Days will be returning in a slightly different format on Tuesday 13th September.
We shall meet at St James’ Church Meltham Mills. Tea and coffee will be available from 9.30. The Quiet Time will begin in the church at 10.00 prompt and end at 12.00. Lunchtime 12.00- 2.00. Please bring a packed lunch. There will not be an afternoon session.
Following a short welcome in church, there will be a time of quiet until 12.00. Please use the time and space to relax; pray; think; reflect; read; be creative; go for a walk; sit in the sunshine! Do whatever it is you feel God is calling you to do. Just rest in his presence.
There will be books; prayer cards and opportunities to be creative. There will be pastoral ministers available if you would like to talk or pray with someone in confidence. The Crèche will be kept for this purpose.
If you can, please stay for fellowship and a time to share thoughts and reflections over lunch.
If you are unable to stay for the whole time, do not worry. We hope you have enjoyed your time in the quiet space and will join us at the next Oasis.
If you need more information please contact Christine Woods: 07989693699 or Jenny Mathers: 07951017454.

MMS is in the final 2 years of supporting orphans in Kyema Uganda in its present format. Our aim is that the young adults in Kyema MS, themselves recipients of MMS support in the past, will take over. With the last 2 years of investment in sugar growing, we want to make funds available to help make the project self sustainable.
CELEBRATING 26 YEARS!!!
A HOPE FOR SUSTAINABILITY through the previous recipients of MMS
-KMSYA Kyema Mustard Seed Young Adults.
KMSYA themselves are keen to help more orphans to benefit from foster care and education –
· Since February 2019, Sugar growing as income generation to continue the project as Meltham MS withdraws in its current form at end of 2023.
· KMSYA planted their own funded 1.5hectares sugar, harvested (2021) bringing in a better than expected income.
· 2.1 hectares sugar, harvested and processed (2022)
· 12 h growing well, to be harvested 2022
A REMINDER that all MMS orphans are fostered by relatives – KINDRED FOSTER CARE. This ethos is promoted throughout the world as the best care for orphaned children. Being cared for in their own culture, in their own environment, among people who hopefully best understand them and their needs.
Since 1996, 48 orphans have passed through Mustard Seed. Currently there are 30 children in the project (78 in total) supported at various levels of education.
THANK YOU
