Quiet Garden

My husband (Colin) and I are Christians. We live in Meltham and worship at Milnsbridge Baptist Church. We would like to let you know about our garden, which is affiliated to the Quiet Garden Movement (Home – Quiet Garden Movement), which helps organisations and individuals to offer a space for prayer and peace. Our garden (Riverside) is available, by appointment, to adults, and to children over the age of 11 if they are supervised. We are now open again after the winter. Riverside is a quiet space for anyone who’d like somewhere to sit, relax and/ or reflect, either by themselves or as part of a small group. We also welcome groups who would like to have their own lead activity.
Painted stones (bible verses) and beaded butterflies have been put in various corners of the garden. They can be used as an aid to thinking, or as a fun project (try to find all eight butterflies or all the elements of the fruit of the Spirit).

The house will be open for toilets and for shelter if it rains (essential in Yorkshire!) and there will be refreshments and some Christian Bible text colouring books available there as well.

We have completed a Risk Assessment and both this and our Safeguarding Policy can be viewed on request.

I have put a couple of links about our garden below.

In Christ

We need YOUR help! – Gardening and tidying – Calmlands Grave Yard – Sat 14th May

We could really do with some help tackling grass on Saturday 14th May at Calmlands grave yard. In the last 3 weeks it’s become a hay field. This Saturday 09.30 to about 12.00 – bring your own coffee. Even if you can only spare an hour, it will make the job easier – the more the merrier 🙂 Thank you!

The following week we will be at Helme Church. Details of further dates will be communicated soon.

Please contact Mike on 07867 951512 if you need further info……….

Parish Magazine – May 2022

Welcome to the May edition of the #Meltham Parish Magazine, and what an Easter filled edition it is!
Easter was so lovely this year to be able to get out and show Christ’s ‘Real Love’ for us all. You can read about it on pages 8&9. Ever wanted to know what is involved in ringing the church bells? Well turn to pages 12 & 13 to find out!
Also a last minute article on some social history documents on St James’ Church that was shown to the vicarage is on the centre page.

Thank you to all who have contributed with this issue, especially all your little ’Thank you’s’ really do show the church community working together. It really wouldn’t be the magazine it is without your input.

All contributions are considered both big and small, so please do send them in.

The next deadline for the June magazine will be:
Monday 16th May 2022
Please send them via melthamparishmagazine@gmail.com or via the vicarage letterbox.
(150 Huddersfield Rd, HD9 4AL)

God Bless,
Fiona.

Follow the Easter Trail from the Turning Circle on the Meltham Greenway to St James’ Church at Meltham Mills.

On completion, there’s a free Easter egg to the first 100 children to complete the trail plus free coffee and cakes for everyone at St James’ Church. Along the way, particpants young and old will be able to take a decorated egg which have been made by members of the Churches in Meltham – it’s a symbol of the Real Love story of Easter. Jesus loves us without limits and wants to gather us together. COVID has taught us the importance of community, supporting one another through difficult times.

We hope this will be a really enjoyable family event and hope you can come along – it’s easy to follow and suitable for all ages
