Oasis Quiet Day

OASIS Quiet Days! Important announcement!

After a very long rest, OASIS Quiet Days will be coming back very soon.

We are planning our return on: Thursday 9th May.

For those who are unfamiliar with OASIS Days, they are held at St James’ Meltham Mills.

We begin in the Hall with coffee and biscuits served from 9.45 – 10.15am.

The Quiet Day then begins in the church promptly at 10.30am. There is a theme for the day to guide our thoughts. The theme will be ‘Times of Transition’ and it begins with a short Act of Worship using carefully selected music, readings and prayers.  After that, some people may choose to read, write, go for walk. Everyone is free to stay for as long as they wish. We know how busy life can be!

We bring packed lunches and enjoy a time of fellowship from 12.00 – 1.00pm. After lunch we return to the church for a time of prayer followed by a simple service of Holy Communion in the Celtic tradition. We are always finished before 3.00pm

This is just a brief outline- basically OASIS Days are a gift for everyone to press their ‘pause’ button and share in a time of rest and refreshment, a time of reflection, a time to be with God.

Parish Magazine – March / April 2024

Welcome to our April / May Parish Magazine. My apologies for the lateness of this edition I thought best that as Easter was right at the beginning of April you wouldn’t want to wait till June to hear and see all the great Easter Celebrations.

We have though got lots to tell you about so make sure you look out for the great things happening at the Crossroad centre (pgs 10 – 11), also the great work that is continuing with Meltham Mustard Seed (Pg 12), We have a poem too (pg 30) and did you know Nigel Priestley has been in Meltham for 50 years?! Well now you do! See page 25 to find out more.

I am so thankful for all your wonderful contributions for this edition. It has made my job so much easier and I think makes a fantastic issue. Please continue to send them in.

The deadline of the April/May magazine will be: Monday 20th May 2024.
Please send submissions via: melthamparishmagazine@gmail.com or via the vicarage letterbox.
